Hoʻomaluhia Horse Rescue
What: Creating a website for Hoʻomaluhia Horse Rescue, a startup nonprofit in Hawaiʻi.
Goals:
Get a website up quickly to aid with collecting donations and applying for grants.
Make the site easy to update, since the nonprofit is still in development and things will change rapidly.
Encourage donations and volunteer applications.
Hoʻomaluhia means “to bring peace.” This is reflected in the cool, calming color palette.
The header font adds a touch of Western flair without detracting from the serious nature of the organization.
Hoʻomaluhia has fantastic photo assets, so I featured photos strategically throughout the site to add personality and boost conversions.
Info about the rescue horses is repeated throughout the site, creating an emotional connection to boost conversions.
On the back end, it’s easy to add or remove resident horses in one place.
Since easy updates were a priority, I used simple text boxes for information that we knew would change over time.
Finally, the most important calls to action are repeated throughout the site.
